Meagan Long is twenty-one years old and from the eighteenth largest city in the U.S. Young and confused. Old and worldly. She knows who she is, but knows nothing about anyone else. She has everyone figured about, but is foreign to herself. Hasn't learned enough about the world. Has learned too much. Too much to care yet cares too much. Has lost faith in everything but still loves. Sometimes depressed yet mostly happy. Because there is one thing. One thing that she can't move past that leaves her waiting every time. Over and over again. It never moves past her mind, circling every waking moment. And even in her dreams. Not a nightmare, just a state of being in consciousness and unconsciousness. It is the basis of everything she says and everything she does. Everything she wants to learn, everywhere she wants to go. Her reason for leaving, her reason for staying. The inspiration behind all her work. It is the death and the life. Got curious? We did...

Martin Squires

At the Paint & Beer event in Amsterdam last week, we had the honor to meet up with the talented Martin Squires from London. Besides the fact he's a great fella, we were intrigued by his works existing out of oil paint, ink, spray paint or a combination of. Not limiting himself, he can get along with all kinds of mediums. Martin was kind enough to lend us two of his artworks, which will be on display for a month in Canvas, Amsterdam! (more details on that later on). Seeing I was quite hammered at Paint & Beer, we thought we'd leave the Q&A for the e-mails.

We're still looking for the exact location of candy land, but the tracks to there must be starting at Sweet Station. At Sweet Station.com you will be led to all the possible eye candy you can imagine. Responsible for all this goodness is the amazing Honey. In between being an art junkie and the rest of life she finds the time to provide us with the goods (not in the last place because she needs her daily art fix herself). Now we agreed that crack+candy is twice as addictive and joined forces! Coming time Honey will contribute to CFYE with write ups on interesting works of art, from contemporary to graffiti, and of course we advice you to visit sweet-station on a regular basis. But first, a proper introduction.

Frank Plant is an American artist based in Barcelona with an amazing skill.. He has the ability to bend steel to his own liking. It seems like he can make just about anything out of steel wire! We were supposed to do an interview with the good man a long time ago, but never got around to it. Recently our interest was sparked again when we saw a very interesting interview with Frank at sweet-station.com. Realizing that this man is not only a very skilled artist, but also a good writer and smart political thinker, it was about time we'd ask our own questions!

It seems like yesterday we were running around with Posca markers on a daily basis, but I guess we're getting old! Nowadays we are the ones that have to keep an eye on the young ones, because they're hungry! So Check out 15 years young Keelo hailing from Maryland (or Babylon, we don't really know) and founder of the BSF (Balylon SoldierFam). With a bag full of markers, a head full of ambitions and inspirations like Banksy and Basquiat he's detirmined to climb the ladder with his artwork. We interview him now so that we get some love back when he's doing it big in a few years. So untill that day, peep some Spam! with Keelo.

Just when you thought you've seen it all, along comes the crew from Fiz-iks to ruin your perception of reality. Based in Japan, their light art goes a lot further then the well-known city neon lights. With a van full of light toys and heads full of crazy ideas they take their art to any place they encounter. Without a doubt they're going to be responsible for lifting light painting up to a next level.

Seeing these guys are a great support with bringing CFYE into this world, we will be working together a lot in the future and you'll be seeing loads of CFYE/Fiz-Iks collaborations so stay tuned. More on that soon. First, a proper introduction to the world of Fiz-iks!

Edward Olive

We at CFYE asked ourselves: What the f* is a professional anyway? Especially in creative lines of work, what defines someone's level of competence? We didn't go to art school so we can't lay it out to you in big expensive words, but for example: Streetart doesn't know any professionals, nor amateurs. There are people that make their living with it, there are kids that do it because they don't have anything else to do. It knows no limits or boundaries and is, in a way, ultimate creative freedom.

What defines art, or being an artist? We know what we like when we see it, so we feature any artist that comes in our scope. But somehow, in some lines of creative work that wakes up the jealousy and envy in a few 'professionals'. Especially (but certainly not only) photographers seem to have a hand in this. We have our opinions about why that is, but instead of rambling about it ourselves we present you a more interesting piece of thought, Edward Olive's:

Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
