More Brasil? Yes! We got in contact with Sao from Sao Paulo recently. He kinda forgot, we kinda forgot..and all of a sudden: bang! A brand new sparkling Spam! interview in the cfye inbox. Anyway, you might know Sao from the 6EIMA project (more after the click) together with Delafuente. They give an extra shine to the city in the most original way, using manholes and other parts of the streets in their art. As a solo artist, Sao is very versatile as well, his work is colorful and reminds us of a street Picasso style.
Brazil is trying to call us. I think we need to go over there soon to check out the massive amount of talent that steadily flows from the country. Recently we got in contact with Felipe Cretella. Felipe is an art-director/artist/photographer from São Paulo, looking for a way to get around and showcase his work to the world. Seeing that isn't easy to do in Brasil, like many Brasilians, he is looking for a way to do this outside of the country.  Felipe's works are interesting. His work as an art-director is very much that, work. His creative outlets seem very versatile. Lightpainting, play with symmetry and movement. For example, check out the amazing asbestos series based on one of the most famous buildings in São Paulo. Dynamic is the word. Today we'll try and uncover what moves this artist, and we hope to see much more of him in the future.
We've never been to Brazil, but we'd love to go. CFYE always had a big interest in Brazil, from the crazy favela movies to great football (read: proper football) the crisp white beaches, the women and Baile Funk rhythms. And every time we ask about Brazil, we keep on hearing the same word: Intense. Â And intense is what the pictures of Brazilian photographer Gui Christ show us. His work shows a true understanding of people and the world they live in. Real emotion can be found in every capture. Living in Rio, Gui visits the favelas around town to capture what is real, but he also takes long trips to poor villages in the midst of Brazil, to show you worlds that are far beyond yours or mine. Â This week his second exposition in the US (together with other great Brazilian photographers) called 'Brazil on screen' will be held in Boston. You better believe you will see more of this talented photographer.
