![]() As you've hopefully noticed a lot of our sites have been changing lately! Crack for your eyes got a re-design and better categorisation, Crack for your ears is totally renewed and now CFYE got some style changes as well! We're working on a totally renewed CFYE site, but in the meantime we added some options to the current site. So what changed? Well first of all a bit of design, second we added some social options. You can now place comments, log-in (to subscribe to our newsletter and place comments directly) and send our articles straight to your favorite social networksite. Last, we also changed the categorisation a bit so hopefully the website is clearer to navigate right now. If you find any bugs or have any comments, don't hesitate to contact us!
Interested by the human psyche, obscurity and those tender, glorified moments of absence, Helen Flanagan work portraits the intensity of loneliness that we human beings like to close our eyes for. The general dreamy atmosphere of composition and used palette of loamy colors makes every photo look like a still from a dream. This photography is maybe not for everyone, but we really appreciate it. Turn of the lights, get a glass of whiskey and put on a Nick Drake record.
If I had to describe Tang Chan's work in one word I would say: distance. Even though she shoots portraits most of the time, there is a certain space between the viewer and the subject in her work. I stumbled upon her through a shuttercrack submission and fell instantley in love with her portfolio. You can see her work in real life at the CFYE "Spirit Level" exposition in Amsterdam during this month. Now first a interview with the great Tang herself.
So you might have heard something buzzing about a CFYE event in your school corridors. We don't know where it's coming from but we already heard rumors about stripclubs and people asking if they can join the afterparty @ Kaymir's place if they bring a keg. Well let me tell you the real deal then! The 7th of November it's time for 'Lift', a monthly party/club night which is thrown in Restaurant/Lounge/Club/ Canvas (Amsterdam). This edition will be a special one as it's part of the official Museumnight afterparties! CFYE will be responsible for the art exposition that will be up in Canvas for a month, so at the same time the 7th of November is also our exposition opener!
Almost a year after the first test issue the second issue of crack magazine is a fact. The CFYE brand and network has expanded during this year beyond our imagination, and we've only just begun. This issue (digital only) is put together by our good friend and respected designer Meneer de Zwart, who had the difficult task to narrow down the huge amount of submissions and contributions.
Her photos speak louder then any interview could do, cause her thoughts are allready deeply embedded in the chemicals of the movie stills like polaroids. Inverselive shows us that your work must do the talking, and we couldn't agree more with the photographer from Taipei, Tawain. The answers in this interview are almost redundant but yet shows us the minimalistic introvert spirit of the far east. Be amazed...we are!
Influenced by the likes of Justice, Boys Noize, MSTRKRFT, LA.A RIOTS, and others similar, Sybrfuk (soundcloud / myspace) has developed a way to create his own sound by taking hard electro synths and looping over pounding beats. Never missing a step, sybrfuk has been in the game for over 15 years, and now is when he decides to produce and speak his mind through music. Over the past year it seems that he only gets better with each project that he creates. And every moves he makes is being announced over the cyber world. From mixtapes, to remixes, to live, every project is different and better than the last.
There's been a flood in the UK lately, loads of places got hit by a massive amount of the infamous pink stickers. There are several sources distributing CFYE in the UK, but there might be one who is the most notable: Nine-O. We have yet to meet the good man, but reliable sources tell us there are not many more people who are so enthusiastic when talking about street art/graffiti. Not only an artist himself, but a big fan as well, he became CFYE ambassador in the UK in no time. Not only that, he also blogs on crackforyoureyes.com every once in a while. More then enough reason to give him a proper introduction!
We like to present to you our fresh mixtape serie: Rush. Weʼre a providing you with a head rush filled with the coolest music that fits the CFYE brand. A great chance to get to know the DJ's we admire through his music and the interview below. Okay enough for the cheap advertising talk. Just another dull mixtape serie to kill those boring hours of commuting while listening to your no brand mp3 players. Let the music do the talking! |
