And the love from Brasil just keeps flowing in these days! Talented photographer and good friend Gui Christ (with who we did a feature not too long ago: Gui C - The Intense Brasilian Experience) has gotten us in touch with one of the hottest graffiti crews from Rio de Janeiro: Mafia 44. He showed us one of their works based on one of his portraits and we were instantly sold by their amazing work. Thanks a million to Gui for doing the whole translation of the interview, Ratão Diniz for providing us with the photography and ofcourse to Mafia 44!

We've never been to Brazil, but we'd love to go. CFYE always had a big interest in Brazil, from the crazy favela movies to great football (read: proper football) the crisp white beaches, the women and Baile Funk rhythms. And every time we ask about Brazil, we keep on hearing the same word: Intense.

Â

And intense is what the pictures of Brazilian photographer Gui Christ show us. His work shows a true understanding of people and the world they live in. Real emotion can be found in every capture. Living in Rio, Gui visits the favelas around town to capture what is real, but he also takes long trips to poor villages in the midst of Brazil, to show you worlds that are far beyond yours or mine.

Â

This week his second exposition in the US (together with other great Brazilian photographers) called 'Brazil on screen' will be held in Boston. You better believe you will see more of this talented photographer.
So please, if you weren't sitting already, take a seat, light a cigarette, a spliff, pour yourself a glass of wine our do whatever you do to get relaxed. Relaxed? Good. Now take your time for this feature with the wonderful artist Gui Christ.

Amsterdam is cold and rainy most of the time, nothing compared to the sunny warm days in Rio de Janeiro. But the one thing we got in common is that we at CFYE are just as passionate about Baile Funk, as the cariocas are. Diplo's Mad Decent released the documentary Favela on Blast which shows Baile Funk and it's social cultural impact. CFYE is all about promoting and pushing the good stuff, so check out the teaser video below.
