In CFYE columns you will meet the thoughts of interesting and inspiring people from our network. This time we have Damien Sans from France. A sincere photographer who also runs his own blog anatomic city.

I can still remember very vividly my first cinematographic emotion. I mean my first emotion in front of an animated picture on a screen. Not that there had been others before. To be honest, I don’t have any memories of any such moment and…Read More »

CFYE x Gui Christ

Sometimes you just know things are destined, like our friendship with Brazilian photographer and all-round great guy Gui Christ. He sent us some Baile Funk CD’s, we sent him some stickers. Not a month later Gui took this Iconic picture during Folia de Reis (the Wise men Revelry).
Some photographers try to force themselfes into shooting stuff that doesn’t seems to fit them well. Photographers like Keith McArthur are like “the hell with that”! I shoot what represents me. His stages, filled with the best actors that he likes to call his friends, are part of his on-going exhibition of daily life. Don’t be fooled though! These are not your average family barbecue photos! They are more like film stills from the Keith McArthur documentary! Who’s the person behind the…Read More »
Photography made a huge transition since the first camera. Back in the day taking one photo could easily take minutes. Nowadays walking around with a hyper digital unit around your neck seems the standard. The pace of life has increased and everything has to be finished in the blink of an eye. But there is still a special kind of breed out there who manages to take it easy. They go by the name of pinhole photographers, their tools of the trade are homemade…Read More »
We’ve never been to Brazil, but we’d love to go. CFYE always had a big interest in Brazil, from the crazy favela movies to great football (read: proper football) the crisp white beaches, the women and Baile Funk rhythms. And every time we ask about Brazil, we keep on hearing the same word: Intense. And intense is what the pictures of Brazilian photographer Gui Christ show us. His work shows a true understanding of people and the world they live in. Real emotion can be…Read More »
Somewhere in the dark midst of North Carolina (Stanly County to be exact) strange lights are known to appear. Hovering orbs, twirls and trails color the sky on a regular basis. The locals talk about ‘el extraterrestre’ or area 41. Since the lights have been appearing two years ago, no-one still knows what is going on. But now we know better! These amazing creations are from a young man named Austin and his mother Cindi. Cindi got into photography 20 years ago, but didn’t…Read More »
Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, along comes the crew from Fiz-iks to ruin your perception of reality. Based in Japan, their light painting photography goes a lot further then the well-known city neon lights. With a van full of light toys and heads full of crazy ideas they take their art to any place they encounter. Without a doubt they’re going to be responsible for lifting light painting up to a next level. Seeing these guys are a great support with bringing…Read More »

Desean Ragland

Desean Ragland
We first spotted this young photographer from Baltimore through our shuttercrack network. As your regular readers may know we are all about pushing great work and the people behind it. We really like the work and eagerness of our man, so we had no other choice then to reach out to him.. Tell us, who is the person behind these images? The person behind these images would be me! Desean Ragland. I’m 17, a high school student, and reside…Read More »
“For as long as I can remember, my closest friends always referred to me as Mr. V. Music, as well as photography is a strong passion of mine. Here’s a story where my loves coincide. Her name is Danni Bay. She had it. You know that “it” that you just want to watch, get close to, and feel… That intangible “it” that she was oblivious to possessing. Her voice was so powerful, I not only got chills over my body, but I felt the presence…Read More »
We at CFYE asked ourselves: What is a professional anyway? Especially in creative lines of work like photography. What defines someone’s level of competence? We didn’t go to art school so we can’t lay it out in big expensive words for you, but for example: Street art doesn’t know any professionals, nor amateurs. There are people that make their living with it, there are kids that do it because they don’t have anything else to do. It knows no limits or boundaries and is,…Read More »
