Kone1

I can imagine that they need to recharge in Finland during the summer, that's probably the reason why it's so loaded with festivals! Today something about Konemetsä. Konemetsä is an annual festival in the Finish forests which is all about good vibes and electro music. Sounds like fun? Joni's been there and shares his experiences with us! Cheers.

Better late than never, our review of Le Petite Nuit Blanche.

The origins of this nocturnal festival of the arts are disputed between Paris, St Petersburg and Berlin. Since 1997 it has spread around the world from Montreal to Madrid and Lima to Leeds. But before we proceed to quote anymore info stolen from Wikipedia, let us give you our highlights:

As this was a new experience for yours truly and our esteemed photographer we had more fun than a drunk with a slinky! The audience, the performers, the organizers, security, the night mayors, we were welcomed candidly and were given carte blanche (pun not very ingenious but intended) to roam around the event(s) grounds. Besides the logistic and practical matters of this various events, we were touched (not by a creepy old man in the darkness of the Illusiereis) by the passion and dedication everybody involved put into the events.

The 20the of June was the official kick off of the Sonisphere Festival tour and the first stop was none other then Nijmegen, Holland.

Sonisphere is a one-day festival that is designed to be a real Metal heads dream. With bands like Metallica, Slipknot, Korn (just to name a few) performing under the same sky in the same place on the same day, no wonder more than 30 thousand Metal lovers were present at this event.

On the 5th-6th of June 09 Suvilahti hosted its first festival of the summer season. Basso festival is held by the infamous Basso Radio, which is the leading radio station in urban music and new city culture, here in Helsinki.

The event is a two day festival hosted in various parts of Helsinki, and this year it included such things as a skateboarding competition (which was actually cancelled due to the “great” weather), a clubbing event, a free all day concert in the most beautiful park of the city (Sinebrychoffin puisto), as well as the main event at the nostalgic district of Suvilahti. We however decided to turn our main focus to the main event, to bring you some of the best electro DJ's out there.

The main event is a nine hour long music fest, with some of the best names in the business. The awesome people at the Basso Radio were kind enough to put crackforyoureyes + 2 on the guest list to give us a great opportunity to go in and experience some electrifying music, so cheers guys.

zwartlicht-1

When I was told that we were going to see Zwart Licht I asked "Who?". The answer was "They're the next big thing in Dutch rap". That, of course, made me very curious. So I went on YouTube and checked them out. Maybe my opinion's biased cause I started with 'Fair Play (Transformers Air Mix 1)', and anything with transformers in it can't go wrong with CFYE (except Michael Bay movies). But from the get go I think they might just be...

The New Earth Group.

We got invited by the Sugar Factory to come and check out something cool! We are always into the new blue. So we would like to bring to your attention a special concert of a unique jazz-formation from Rotterdam, The New Earth Group!

Last weekend was off the hook! It was a party with the best DJ's from Friday night 'till Sunday morning. Both Friday and Saturday night were organized by the uber creative collective "VAgE gASTEN". They're notorious for creating image and sound with everything they can get their hands on. This weekend they invited CFYE over to let us see first-hand what kind of party they throw. Friday it started in a sold-out Sugar Factory - Blacklight District. The party went on 'till the early hours and after the Vodka spray came out, beer flew around and there was blood on the dance floor. But that was only the beginning! Following day they owned the top floor of the Heineken Music Hall at the Dirty Dutch event, hosted by DJ Chuckie. The whole night was filled with 'no tomorrow' music and it didn't stop 'till security told the last people to get out.
