RSH – BOMB: A Manifesto of Art Terrorism

RSH recently wrote and illustrated a book about this whole scene we call ‘Street Art’ so I have done an interview to get ‘behind the scenes’ a bit and get to know why this astonishing book was made. One of the true artists of our time.
What inspired you to write the book?
I am tired of the trust-fund kids and their boring rich friends dictating what is considered art. I think its time for artists to stop being lazy fuck-offs and to start being cultural insurgents.
What is the book about?
BOMB is about the potentials of graffiti, but its also about my experiences dealing with the world as an artist. I see things going on and wonder why people don’t stop them from happening. I feel like a lot of what is being called art is really a kind of con being played on society. A way of making money by selling absurd notions of value to rich idiots. In a hundred years since dada we still haven’t learned. But people are beginning to wake up to it.
How long have you been painting?
Over 20 years, weirdly. It doesn’t seem like its been that long. I started painting in my teens (1987) in a post industrial scar about an hour outside of Detroit. But paint is just part of the bigger shape, the dialog. I am interested in creating experiences for people, I fucking hate objects and permanence. I just want to add, if however briefly, a bit of colour to the world.
