“So, about me…

I am studying at Leeds College of Art towards a BA in Photography. I am currently in my second year and in the process of applying to London College of Fashion to continue my third and final year on their Fashion Photography course. I became interested in photography at Chelsea College of Art, where i studied for my foundation year, prior to moving to Leeds. Although my work is predominantly fashion based, i feel i have a flare for documentary practice and I am drawn to the organic elements of candid portraits, particularly in an urban setting. I recently travelled to Berlin to photograph the street art subculture, which ignited a personal interest in urban landscapes and underground scenes, which i hope to explore further.

The skateboarding/street images are a small selection from a series titled ‘Sketch’. It is a documentary series that provides a raw insight into the skateboarding culture of today’s youth. The photographs, which often isolate these characters within their setting, focus on portraying a sense of mood and atmosphere, acting as very intimate and candid portraits of the skaters in their natural environment. The images were taken at Brixton and Southbank skate parks in South London and Hyde park skate park in Leeds.

I have some exciting projects coming up this year, including a 3 week internship at Vogue magazine and I have also recently been offered an internship working with an incredible fashion photographer, Jez Tozer, scheduled to begin this summer.” – Zoe Lower
