Lucas Zappa – Mutual Respect

The CFYE and Brazil connection is a special one. We don't know why, but it must have something to do with the amazing people. That's also the case with my dear friend Lucas Zappa from Rio de Janeiro. A 30 years old born and raised carioca. Son of two photographers, raised amidst BW lab, piles of negatives, chromes and during the beginning of photoshop and home computing. I had the frequent honour to offer him a couch during his trips...

Lorena Endara – enjoying the process

We got in touch with Panamanian photographer Lorena Endara (1984) a little while ago, when she sent us the details of her "Market Geographies" series, where she explores market activity through product codes and stickers. Browsing her website, we quickly discovered she has a lot more work we'd love to share!...

Joseph Loughborough – Black Gold

Let's take a walk on the dark side with the art of Joseph Loughborough (1981). UK bred but now based in Berlin, Joseph has acquired mad skills with charcoal over the years. His intense black and white works tend to suck the viewer in, or at least, that's how we experienced it after going over his work for quite some time!...

Jeroen Huijbregts – subtle and clever

A few months ago I sat down with illustrator / graphic designer, artist and all-round good guy Jeroen Huijbregts to interview him about his artistic aspirations. On a terrace in Amsterdam we enjoyed the first sun-rays of the year, some fried eggs (with bacon) and discussed Jeroen's artistic life. As this was in March and it is now June, you can imagine this interview is long overdue. But like many good things, it only seems to have...

Leendert-Jan de Ronde – with great ambition

Though CFYE traverses the digital globe in search of talents in the most obscure corners of the deep web, we try not to forget about the local talents. We're always happy to receive a message from local talents like the fantastic Dutch illustrator Leendert-Jan de Ronde (LJ). LJ works on illustration projects and easily crosses over to fashion, product design and branding. His strong visual style makes that he never loses any of his...

Narcélio Grud – Variety on the Rise

If you think street art consists out of nothing more than stencils with a witty punch-line, you should have a look at the works of Brazilian artist Narcélio Grud. His work varies from public sound interventions, sculptures and spray-can spirographs, to murals created with discarded materials like fruit or oil. Over the years Narcélio has shared some fantastic video's showing his experiments with various techniques....

Anne Barlinckhoff – experiencing curiosity

"You won't know untill you fucking try"

Amsterdam based photographer Anne Barlinckhoff is one of the freshest emerging talents! We first came across her work when we featured her collaboration with artist Laser 3.14 and were immediately intrigued by her approach of taking pictures; instead of staying in her comfort zone she actively goes out pursuing the subjects she wants to capture, resulting in unforced, sexy and fun looking photo shoots with quality results. "You won't...

Michael Floor – Havenstraat

In between Amsterdam’s Olympic stadium and a former correctional facility lays the Havenstraat terrain, one of the last rough patches within the city’s ring-way. Barely subjected to Amsterdam’s fast-paced gentrification, the Havenstraat terrain is an odd collection of barracks, shacks and old tram depots which house businesses, workshops and a tram museum. As the city council has plans to build an apartment complex on the costly...
