I’m 24 from New York (currently living in Queens). I went to SUNY Purchase to study Arts Management because I’ve always had an interest in the visual arts, but it wasn’t until last year that I started to take photography more seriously and try to hone in on my personal style (which I feel is constantly evolving/changing). I fell in love with photography though doing personal “fine art” projects, but recently I have also gained interest in fashion and beauty. I used to not think twice about this type of photography, but now I find that there’s a lot of room for being freely creative.
I suppose where I am right now is trying to explore fashion more while also staying true to my fine art roots. I enjoy images that tell stories and have “other-worldly” concepts..I’m not afraid to explore some concepts that others might find unusual. I sometimes try to think of specific stories before going out to shoot, and 99% of the time I utilize natural light rather than artificial. Post-processing plays a big role in the final product. I always use Photoshop CS5; with fashion work I’ll maybe spend 20 minutes on an image, and with fine art work I can spend anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours on a single image. I’ve had a lot of practice with blending multiple images together (compositing), and also using Curves for tonal adjustments.
