There is nothing like the amazing cuts of stencil art ninja’s Orticanoodles! The Italian duo consisting out of Wally and Alita are definitely amongst the top stencil artists in the world. With their original style and continues re-inventing of themselves and the stencil art technique, I have been amazed by them for quite a while. Actually, since I first laid eyes on their work during the Paint & Beer festival in 2008.

The latest series of Orticanoodles…Read More »

New stuff by ICKS

united colors of halftone
You guys should already know about one of the kings of half-tone stencils: the artist ICKS (formerly known as X)! Personally, I found out about ICKS through Jessica’s Stewart her amazing blog – Romephotoblog and the interview she did with him and ’999, who is another street artist out of the small town of Termoli, Italy (Peep the interview here: 999′ and X – Representing Termoli). The stencils of Icks’ keep amazing me because every…Read More »
You can’t deny that iconizing is a huge part of ‘modern’ street art. I don’t know if it’s the legacy of Andy Warhol or that it’s just the easy thing to do, but stencilling, illustrating, spray-painting and altering icons or iconic sights, symbols, photographs seems to make-up a big part of what we call street art. That is not necessarily a bad thing though, it might be a good mirror of our current civilization; Worshipping God(s) made place for idolising and iconizing celebrities and…Read More »
I am a big fan of street / stencil artist Chase! Partly because of his uplifting messages and colourful work that never fails to make me smile, partly because the man himself is so full of energy and always out and about! Whatever side-projects street artist Chase might have to do, painting on the streets is what he the most, and that shows. He makes his environment (Los Angeles) a nicer and friendlier place on a daily basis. This is what makes Chase a…Read More »

Eime, from Portugal, has always liked to paint and draw, but only when started in street art is that it all started to make more sense. In 2003 I began to paint graffiti but did not last long until I realized that was not quite what I liked. When I moved to Lisbon I started to get involved and enter my work in street art. I started doing a lot of posters and stickers at home and alone or with friends I stuck in…Read More »
It’s always exciting to see what artists known for their works on the streets perform in a gallery. In case of the amazing duo Jana & JS we already knew what they were capable of from their previous shows, but this one seems absolutely amazing. It’s at Galerie Itinnerance, which has proven to be one of the most interesting ‘street art’ galleries around. Jana & JS have turned it into something amazing. The exhibition is still open untill the 26th of March,…Read More »
I first met [X] and 999” this past spring during a backstage stenciling session at the closing party for the Vinyl Factory exhibit in Rome, where you’ll see below they sprayed everything from records to serving trays.  I figured it only fitting that for my first contribution to CFYE I turn the spotlight on them, as they’re both participating in the Unholy Grail exhibit opening Friday.  They’re just two of a number of talented artists from Termoli, a small…Read More »

Last year, C215 told us about Adi Sened, aka Kufsened from Tel Aviv, Israel. Adi Sened creates Kufsonim: Small, (self) expressive geometrical figures which roam the streets of Tel Aviv. Next to these, he also practices sculpturing and uses all kinds of other media like bottle caps to make his art. His work speaks to us, so it was about time we’d speak to him. Here’s the interview with Adi Sened What can you tell us about “Kufsonim” and…Read More »

Puddeneen

Puddeneen
Like I often say, there is a big sea of street artists, and especially stencil artists out there at the moment. Some market themselves like crazy, others just hope their talents get them noticed, and some don’t even care if they get noticed and just do what they love. Puddeneen just does what he loves. From Braunschweig, Germany and Just 20 years old, he’s not planning to quit his day job and does his thing with no pressure at all. Making most of his…Read More »
If there’s one street artist that didn’t stop amazing us in 2009, it’s C215 aka Christian Guemy. The Parisian stencil artist with an undeniable unique cutting style has been a busy bee the past year! With many trips, shows, a forced pause by meningitis, collaborations and amazing work after work C215 has grown visibly. And if that wasn’t enough Christian turned the neighborhood he resides in (Vitry-sur-seine) into a real street art gallery, inviting some of his favorite artists to paint the streets along…Read More »
